I have used this yarn to knit several pairs of socks. It knits up quickly and yields a nice, even textured, lightweight fabric. (I use size 1 DP bamboo needles and would definitely encourage you to use bamboo/wood needles.) The yarn comes in enough colors, hues, multi-colors, and patternings to keep you happily producing socks to match everything in your wardrobe. Right now I am using a patterned yarn that comes out looking like Fair Isle knitting, without carrying different colors! Because the yarn is lightweight, I recommend doubling the yarn for the heels and toes. I have not had a problem with the socks that I didn't do this on, but it just feels like the heels and toes need that extra thickness.

Addendum: I have just found out that Schoeller-Stahl does have Fortissima Socka reinforcing yarn. It's available in several solid colors to reinforce and add distinction to the heel and toe. It is sold wrapped on cards rather than in skeins, therefore easy to manage.
